As per American Dental Association, 1st Dental visit should be as soon as the 1st teeth erupts at the age of 6 months.

ROLE OF PARENTS DURING FIRST DENTAL VISIT OF THEIR CHILDREN

Make an appointment with your Dentist during suitable time for your child.
Try to avoid appointments during their nap times, meal time and avoid when they are sick.

Start preparing your child even before the dental appointment by reading dental stories or by playing dental cartoons.

Do not express fear towards dentistry in front of your child.

It is necessary to carry your child’s medical record to give a clear picture to your dentist.

Let your child carry her own toys when she visits Dentist.

1st appointment will take a longer time, its better to give some time for child to adapt to the dental environment and Dentist.

Never say Dentist will give you injections when you don’t listen, this might create a fear factor and the child will never be comfortable on a dental chair.
